A NOTE FROM THE TEACHER
During these next two weeks, you can continue to have your child practice skills in their folder, or use this "Family Choice Board" for more ideas. I cannot stress enough how many kindergarten teachers I have spoken to that tell me again and again, their biggest hope for incoming kinders is their fine/gross motor skills, social/emotional skills, and focus/stamina on a task. Thank you for your support at home!
I am very excited to apply my learning from my trainings to our class starting in December. We will be doing a 4-week unit about Polar Animals! If you are able, I would love your help getting the following materials and supplies about polar bears, reindeer, penguins, and narwhals:
stuffed animals
plastic toy animals
books
board games
puzzles
cookie cutters
If you have any of the above at home that we could borrow, that would be fantastic! I will return your items at the end of January.
Here is a list of examples of things I am looking for. Again, I don't need them brand new, but if you or someone you know are able to donate or let us borrow any of these, it will help enrich the learning experience of our students! You can bring the items on Monday 12/2/24.
Happy Thanksgiving!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Theme: Polar Animals
There are many types of polar animals in our world! This week we will learn about the polar bear!
Polar animals adapt, or change, so they can live in colder climates. We will learn about their body parts and how the parts help them survive.
Polar animals are amazing creatures. We will learn fun facts about the animals in our different centers.
Math: Graphing
We will practice sorting and graphing! We will continue to practice counting as we practice all these skills.
Art/Science/Social Studies
We will create art projects related to each polar animal!
AT-HOME PRACTICE AND TIPS
Speaking and Listening Skills with "Show and Tell"!
I have noticed a big improvement in students' presentations and questioning skills! They are able to say a lot more details when it is their turn, and the audience is able to ask a variety of questions!
Please continue to practice with your child at home by asking them questions about their object, or teaching THEM to ask you questions as you share an object with them, such as:
WHO bought that for you?
WHAT letter/sound does it start with?
WHAT color/shape/size is it?
WHAT does it feel like?
WHERE do you keep it in your home?
WHERE did you get it from?
WHEN do you play with it?
HOW do you use/ play with it?
WHY do you like it?
CAN you pass it around so we can see/touch it?
You can also model commenting or complimenting:
I really like your (object)!
I have (object) at home, too!
I think your (object) is awesome!
